Frequently Asked Questions
"What kind of massage should I get?"
At Clintonville Therapeutic Massage every massage is as unique as every client. Many people feel the most beneficial sessions are combinations of Swedish relaxation techniques, with some stronger pressure Deep Tissue work where it’s needed, so that is often where we start. Your therapist will discuss your preferences and goals at the beginning of you session, customize the treatment most suited to you, and check in with you throughout you session to ensure comfortable pressure. For the purposes of booking your appointment, all we need to know is how much time you want.
"Who should I book with?"
All the therapists at CTM are fully licensed and well trained, educated in multiple modalities of Massage Therapy, and each have years of experience in the field. Whoever you are with, you will be in good hands (pun fully intended). If you don't have a preferred therapist when booking, just look for a date and time that is convenient for your schedule and your therapist will tailor your session to suit your wellness goals.

"How often should I get a massage?"
For managing the stress of daily life and the normal wear and tear of the body, we recommend coming in at least once a month. This is great for staying on top of minor muscle-aches and pains, and getting knots worked out before they develop into longer-lasting issues. Plus it's nice just knowing you have a relaxing event on your calendar to look forward to!
If you'd rather come in more frequently, do it. There's no risk in being over-massaged! This is also helpful if you have chronic pain or a specific issue you are working on. Your therapist will discuss your goals with you during your appointment to form a treatment plan that works for you.
"Am I supposed to talk during the appointment? Is it weird or rude if I fall asleep?"
Your massage session is your time to relax, and that means something different to everyone. Some people like to talk, some people like to zone out or fall asleep, some people like to do a combo of both. It's your time and your therapist will take their cues from you. You're here to recharge, connect with and care for your body, not to entertain your therapist!
"What should I wear or not wear?"
At the beginning of your appointment your therapist will step out of the room while you undress to your level of comfort and lie underneath the sheet and blanket on the table. Some people prefer to keep their underwear on, or wear gym shorts, others prefer to undress entirely. It's completely up to you, your therapist won't care one way or the other, and you will remain properly covered by the sheet and blanket at all times, except for the specific area they are working on.
"Is this covered by my health insurance?"
We do not currently work with any insurance providers. However many of our clients are able to pay for their sessions using their HSA accounts; we suggest checking with your provider before your appointment. Also, many physicians refer their patients for regular massage therapy as a form of on-going healthcare, and if you have a prescription for massage, you are exempt from paying sales tax on your sessions. We happily provide Physician Referral forms that you can ask your doctor to fill out.
"Do you accept gratuities?"
If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it, leaving a little extra for your therapist is a lovely way of letting them know you appreciated their work. Gratuities are optional and can be added to your total when you check out after your session.
"What if I need to cancel or reschedule?"
We get it, life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please call, text, or email us at least 24 hours before the start of your appointment time and we'll happily find a better time for you to come in, at no charge.
Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the start time will be subject to a late cancel fee equal to 50% of your booked appointment.
"Do I need an appointment?"
Yes, all our sessions are by appointment only, we do not take walk-ins. Appointments can be made by calling or texting our office phone at (614)558-8383, or scheduled here by clicking the BOOK NOW tab in the menu above
